The Fond du Lac County Board has approved a five year capital improvement plan. County Executive Al Buechel says the big ticket item is reconstructing a six mile stretch of County Highway I that runs parallel to Highway 41. “That is the poorest quality road we have in the county right now,” Buechel said. “They’ll widen the road, increase the shoulders and straighten the curves.” Buechel says the CIP also earmarks funding for a new county garage to replace the Dixie Street facility, for the purchase of ledge property and money to replace the county’s aging election equipment. “We’re buying new equipment that will serve the entire county. That will come on line for the presidential election year in 2016.” Buechel says the new equipment will also make Fond du lac the first county to use wireless technology.
