The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of a semi died after he suffered a medical condition before his semi crashed into a cornfield Wednesday morning. Rescue personnel were called to the scene on East Larson Drive and Hickory Road shortly before 8am. The Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center received a call of a semi that traveled through the stop sign at E. Larson Dr. and Hickory Rd in the town of Fond du Lac. The semi continued westbound for several hundred yards, coming to a final resting position in a cornfield. The driver, a 59 year old Iowa man, was found unconscious and slumped over the wheel. A Sheriff’s Deputy and the Fond du Lac City Ambulance responded to the scene and performed CPR. The subject was transported to St. Agnes Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
