Following heavy rain earlier this month the bitter cold and snow this week is making it difficult for area farmers to get their field corn harvested before winter sets in. Fond du lac County Crops and Soils agent Mike Rankin says the entire growing season was delayed from the beginning. “We had a much cooler summer as well, decent temperatures in September and most of October but the crop was behind and it remains behind,” Rankin told WFDL news.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
