Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs has completed an undefeated season by defeating Darlington in the WIAA Division 6 state football championship game at Camp Randall stadium in Madison. The Ledgers built an early lead then had to come from behind before defeating Darlington 37-28. St. Mary’s Springs made its 12th playoff appearance and seventh in a row. It was the Ledgers’ fifth finals appearance in six years, having been eliminated in the semifinals a year ago by Darlington. Springs has now won five WIAA state titles and eight as a member of the WISAA.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
