A Fond du Lac High School music teacher is being recognized for creative and innovative teaching in the classroom. Matt McVeigh received the Creative Sparks Award for Music Education at the Wisconsin Music Educators Convention. McVeigh was recognized for the music technology curriculum at the high school. McVeigh says the program is designed to teach students how to create music through technology. He says the great part of this approach is that students have to make their own creative decisions.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
