MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democrat Dick Cates won't ask for a recount in his race for the open 51st District seat in southwestern Wisconsin against Republican Todd Novak. Cates conceded Thursday in a race that Novak won by only about 60 votes. Republicans will have a 63-36 advantage in the next Assembly.
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A Sheboygan judge says he will not re-sentence a teenage boy serving a life sentence for killing his great-grandmother. An attorney for 15-year-old Antonio Barbeau argued the sentence is unconstitutional when applied to a minor. But the judge denied the appeal. Barbeau pleaded no contest in the 2012 death of Barbara Olson of Sheboygan Falls.
