A new survey says Fond du Lac County’s cost of living index is below the national average. Fond du Lac County Economic Development Director of entrepreneurship and business intelligience, Jo Ann Giese-Kent, says the survey shows the cost of living in Fond du lac County is four percent below the national average. The county’s composite score in the third quarter increased by 1.5 points from the second quarter with a five percent increase in the cost of grocery items. There was also a slight increase in the score for utilities, transportation and miscellaneous goods and services. There was a slight decrease in the score for housing and health care. Giese-Kent says the survey is important from an economic development standpoint because a lower cost of living attracts people and businesses.
