A 300 plus page report details an internal investigation involving three extramarital affairs involve five Fond du Lac police officers. The report was obtained this week by WFDL news following an open records request made several months ago. Former Fond du lac County District Attorney Dan Kaminsky represented all five officers in a civil lawsuit attempting to prevent release of the records. According to the documents an internal investigation was launched after officer Curt Beck’s wife took pictures of a Valentine’s Day card signed by officer Kristen Kachelmeier and a jewelry receipt she found inside her husband’s truck and posted them on Facebook revealing the affair to the public. The report says the first exrtramarital affair occurred between Beck and officer Rebecca Kollmann. The affair between Beck and Kachelmeier started last January and continues to this day, according to the report. The report says to complicate the matter officers Kollmann and Kachelmeier are best friends and work the same shift. The report also details a third affair between officers Pamela O’hearn and Joel Gudex. The officers were placed on paid administrative leave March 10th. Gudex resigned in July, O’hearn stepped down in October and Beck and Kachelmeier also resigned. Kollman remains on the force. Assistant police chief Steve Thiry said in his report that during the investigation interview Gudex ‘s demeanor was unprofessional, cavalier and gave the impression that participating in the investigation was beneath him even though he was on administrative leave and questioned under Garrity. Thiry added that Gudex was not forthcoming with information during the interview. The report says the five officers violated all three of the Department’s core values of honor, integrity and professionalism and may have also violated department policies including conduct unbecoming an officer.
