12-5-14 right to work legislation

todayDecember 4, 2014

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Republican leader of the state Senate says he wants to act quickly early next year to make Wisconsin a right-to-work state.  Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Thursday that he wants to take up a bill prohibiting unions from forcing private-sector workers to join or pay dues as a condition of employment within weeks.  His comments come after Gov. Scott Walker has repeatedly said he doesn’t want the Legislature to take up the issue because he thinks it would be a distraction.  Fitzgerald did not immediately return a message seeking comment.  Earlier this week Republican Rep. Chris Kapenga said he would introduce a right-to-work bill.  Fitzgerald will be a guest at 9:10am Friday on AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.
