The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of daytime residential burglaries where thieves are looking for medications. Sheriff’s detective Pete Vergos says four burglaries of unoccupied homes have been reported in the last few weeks in the towns of Eldorado and Ripon. Vergos says the thieves are looking for medications and have also taken cash and jewelry. Anyone with information should call the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at (920) 906-4777.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
