12-5-14 fdl police scandal-council react

todayDecember 5, 2014

A Fond du lac city councilmember says he finds it unbelievable that at least some of the five police officers involved in extramarital affairs didn’t know the Department’s Core Values.  A 300 page report made public this week following a civil court hearing says the officers violated all three of the Department’s core values of honor, integrity and professionalism.  Offiers Joel Gudex, Curt Beck, Pamela O’Hearn, and Kristen Kachelmeier have resigned.  Officer Rebecca Kollmann remains on the force.  All five were initially placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.  Councilmember Gary Miller says he’s also concerned that when the officers were placed on paid administrative leave back in March and four of them later resigned it placed a burden on an already shorthanded department.  “That puts the entire department in jeopardy as well as the city of Fond du Lac,”  Miller told WFDL news.  “We get these reports from the police chief and his assistants about how shorthanded they are and the fact that it takes up to a year for the interview process and offer of employment and then a whole year while they are in training.”
