The Fond du Lac County board will consider a request to give the Fond du Lac County Fair more time to pay a $50,000 no-interest loan from the County. The board will consider the request at their December 16th meeting. A resolution states that the Fond du Lac County Agricultural Society would pay $10,000 of the $50,000 that is due by Dec. 31, 2014, and pay the remaining $40,000 by the end of 2016. Fair officials say they don’t have enough money to pay the loan in full and start up costs for the fair next year. The loan was requested after the 2012 Fair saw lower attendance due to poor weather.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
