The Fond du Lac school board has voted to expel two high school students for bringing marijuana and a weapon to school. The school board took action following a closed door meeting Monday night. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the students are expelled for the rest of the school year and all of next school with an opportunity to return early if they meet certain criteria. “We’ve tried very much to bring kids back as soon as we can because we don’t think they magically get better sitting at home,” Sebert told WFDL news. “If kids are making choices that have risen to this level they deserve swift consequences but we also work with kids down at the central office so that we can keep them on track hopefully to graduate.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
