Mercury Marine this week celebrates the casting of its 2,500,000th stainless steel propeller in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Simultaneously, Mercury is celebrating its famed investment cast facility’s 40th year after opening in 1974. Manager of Investment Casting at Merc Jared Reichenberger tells WFDL news Mercury propellers are recognized globally for best-in-class speed, acceleration and fuel. “How we look at it is when you put someone on the water its about memories and when you look at 2.5 million props, how many memories have those props provided for those boaters?” Reichenberger says the most recent propeller innovation produced by Mercury is the Enertia ECO prop, which delivers 10 percent improved fuel economy at cruising speed, while still maintaining exceptional performance and durability. Mercury’s stainless steel propellers are designed for outboard engines ranging from 9.9 to 300 horsepower, and all sterndrive engines.
