12-15-14 elections board-reaction

todayDecember 14, 2014

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Republican critics of the board that oversees elections and ethics law in Wisconsin say a new audit shows that an overhaul is needed.  The Audit Bureau released its long-awaited report on the Government Accountability Board Friday. It found numerous problems with the board’s operation, and made recommendations for improvement, but did not say it should be abolished. Representative Dean Knudson of Hudson says he is working on a bill to overhaul the board, but it’s too early to say what changes he will propose. Knudson says he doesn’t know yet whether he would support replacing the nonpartisan board with one that has partisan members.  Knudson says he is also considering breaking off some of the duties of the board. Knudson says he wants to introduce a bill early next year.
