U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin says a Senate Intelligience Committee report into the CIA’s harrowing interrogation practices after 9/11 reveals a chapter in our history that we need to learn from. The scathing torture report outlines sweeping allegations of CIA wrongdoing. “The major takeaway from this is that practices that were used in the months following 9/11 in some cases were harsher than what we even knew. In some cases were not reported to the president of the United States at the time,” Baldwin told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. “Most importantly to us in terms of informing us moving foward, were not effective in revealing actionable intelligience to keep our country safer.” Baldwin says its important to learn lessons from the report’s findings. Critics are casting the report as a one-sided, error filled political stunt.
