In 2015 Taste of Fond du Lac is getting a new date and home. Historically the event has been in February and at the Fond du Lac Fairgrounds. Effective this year the event moves to Oven Island at Lakeside Park on Sunday, August 23 from Noon – 6p.m. The event will feature food from area restaurants, live music entertainment, a beer garden, and children’s activities area. “We are excited to be the presenting sponsor of the 2015 Taste of Fond du Lac.” Says Rick Parks, President and CEO of Society Insurance. “2015 marks a special year for Society Insurance as we celebrate our 100 years in business. This is the perfect way we can say thank you to the Fond du Lac community and the restaurant industry we serve. As we recognize our company’s history, we are delighted that the event is moving to Lakeside Park, where our friends and family have enjoyed outdoor gatherings since the beginning of the 20th century.” Event co-chairs this year are Tad Wallender of Fat Joe’s and Angie Antkowiak of Ang & Eddies Pizza.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
