12-13-14 third person charged in heroin overdose death bound over for trial

A third person charged in the heroin overdose death of a Fond du lac County man two years ago has been bound over for trial.  Alonzo Cornelius of Milwaukee waived his preliminary hearing Thursday  on charges of first degree reckless homicide-delivery of drugs and manufacture-delivery of heroin as a repeater.  Bail was set earlier at $250,000 cash.   Cornelius is the third person charged in the heroin overdose death of […]

12-13 lomira man reaches plea deal in heroin overdose case

A Lomira man accused of participating in the delivery of heroin to a Fond du Lac man who later died from an overdose has avoided trialby reaching a plea agreement.  Jeffrey Abitz pleaded guilty Thursday to delivery of heroin and possession of narcotic drugs.  He was originally  charged with first degree reckless homicide.  Abitz was scheduled to go on trial this week.  A second person who was charged in the […]

12-13-14 former ripon college official convicted of theft from school

A former Ripon College official will be sentenced March 26th, after he was convicted of stealing over 428-thousand dollars from the private school.  Fifty-five year old Ronald Haefner of Mequon pleaded guilty to ten theft and fraud charges.  Fifty-four similar counts were dropped in a plea deal.  Haefner was Ripon's director of information technology when he allegedly used a school credit card to buy things for himself, his family, and […]

KAUKAUNA, Wis. (AP) — A four-hour police standoff in Kaukauna has ended peacefully with one man in custody.  Police say they got a call about 4:30 a.m. Friday of a disturbance in a home involving a man brandishing a gun.
