1-5-15 school district apps

todayJanuary 3, 2015

Weather alerts, student grades, and more are available through apps offered by the North Fond du Lac and Lomira School Districts.  North Fond du Lac School Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the app can be customized to meet individual family’s needs.  “As a parent I go in, I put in a passcode, all of the sudden I’ve got an icon for all three of my kids.  I can hit on it  and it updates with our student information system and grade books every night so parents can go and see grades and what’s going on and assignments,”  Sadoff told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.  “They can set alerts in case a grade goes below a C or a D.  They can make the experience their own.”  Sadoff says the app links into social media, which allows immediate access to photos and events posted on the school district’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Staff members have access to a directory and can send instant messages as well as use it to set up classroom work.  North Fond du Lac’s app was developed through Parent Link at a cost of around $10,000 with an annual maintenance fee of about $3,000.   Lomira’s app has been in place for about a year.
