On Monday, January 5, 2015, Fond du Lac County Senior Judge Peter Grimm will preside over the swearing in of Fond du Lac County Sheriff Mick Fink and Fond du Lac County Clerk of Circuit Court Ramona Geib. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Judge Grimm’s courtroom, located on the 2nd floor of the City-County Government Center. Meanwhile, Dale Schmidt will be sworn into office as the new Dodge County Sheriff. Schmidt defeated Pat Ninmann in last fall’s election. A swearing in ceremony will be held in Branch 1 of the Dodge County Justice Facility in Juneau. Judge John Storck will be conducting the ceremony. Schmidt will be a guest at 9:45am Monday on AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
