A Fond du Lac woman has been convicted of abusing two children. Forty six year old Jeana Riehl pleaded no contest to two counts of child abuse. Four counts of child abuse were dismissed and read into the record and two counts of child abuse and two counts of neglecting a child were dismissed on the prosecutor’s motion. According to a criminal complaint Riehl was accused of abusing two boys for a period of several years…striking them with a rolling pin, cutting board, horse whip and hunting arrow and locking one of the boys in a bathroom for weeks. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 12th. Riehl’s husband Troy Riehl is scheduled to go on trial this month for failing to prevent his wife from abusing the children.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
