1-7-15 cold weather driving tips

todayJanuary 7, 2015

Wisconsin emergency management is reminding residents to take precautions to prevent frostbite during this week’s bitter cold weather.  Emergency management spokesman Tod Pritchard says if you are driving…make sure you have a winter emergency kit and extra clothing.  Pritchard says when its this cold it doesn’t take long for frostbite and hypothermia to set in.  “…to make sure that people are thinking about the most vulnerable parts of their body in terms of frostbite.  The tip of your fingers, the tip of your nose.  In these kind of windchills that we’re getting it can take as little as 30 minutes to have frostbite set in,”   Pritchard told WFDL news.  A windchill advisory is in effect through noon Thursday.
