The victims of a fatal traffic accident on Highway 23 east of Fond du lac have been identified. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says four year old, Landen Wachter, and his father 37 year old Christopher Wachter of Sheboygan Falls died in the crash. Sheriff’s sergeant Jeff Bonack says the victim’s car crossed the center line on 23 near 7 Hills Road, clipped an SUV and then was struck by a semi-tractor trailer. The child died at the scene and the father was pronounced dead at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Bonack says investigators are still trying to determine why the car veered into the oncoming lane of traffic. The occupants in the semi and SUV were not injured.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
