The director of the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership says the Wisconsin Main Street program has paid off for Fond du Lac.  Amy Hansen says since Fond du Lac was certified as a Wisconsin Main Street Community ijn 2004 there has been $87 million in private reinvestment, with a 38 percent increase in assessed value of the downtown district.  Hansen says the DFP has awarded $192,000 in grant assistance for building improvement projects leveraging more than $2.2 million in private investment.  She says last year the organization awarded $47,000 in grants to property owners.  She says 2014 saw the opening of 28 new businesses and more than $14.6 million in private investment.  The DFP was nominated as one of the ten semi-finalists for the Great American Main Street award.
