The Fond du Lac Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign has surpassed its $145,000 goal. Salvation Army captain, Steven Wilson says the fund drive collected more than $152,000. Money raised during the holidays helps eligible Fond du Lac County families at or below 130% of the poverty level. Social Services Director Ron Jacobson says the food pantry doubled its service load in August providing 33,000 lbs. of food for more than a thousand clients.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
