A Ripon College political science professor says all signs are pointing to an announcement that Governor Scott Walker is running for president. Walker spoke in Iowa over the weekend and plans to visit New Hampshire in March. Ripon College political science professor Marty Farrell says the fact that there is no clear frontrunner at this point among potential Republican candidates is in Walker’s favor. “He has won three elections in four years in a state that’s voted Democrat for president almost consistantly for 30 years so that should show he has some crossover appeal,” Farrell told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. Farrell says if Walker is going to run for president…now would be the time.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
