MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Assembly Republicans have canceled a fundraiser after Democrats complained that holding it would violate the Legislature's rules. Melanie Hubbard, a spokeswoman for the Republican Assembly Campaign Committee, says that the event Wednesday night at a hotel in downtown Madison was canceled "due to an unfortunate scheduling oversight." 1-22-15 state superintendent calls on legislators to “hit the pause button”

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Superintendent Tony Evers says he fears "more divisive mandates" for public schools are coming, and he is calling on the Legislature to "hit the pause button." Evers made the comments today at the annual state education convention in Milwaukee, without elaborating on what he meant. His spokesman Tom McCarthy says he was referring to a school accountability bill that Republicans are working on.
