A Lowell woman is facing charges for allegedly embezzling over 17 thousand dollars when she worked as the office manager for a Dodge County Cemetery. 35 year old Katie Norton is charged with two counts of theft of a business setting of over 10 thousand dollars. She made her initial Dodge County Circuit Court appearance Monday. Norton is accused of taking the money when she worked at Highland Memory Gardens cemetery on Highway 151. She was responsible for paying the bills and running the office. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 26th.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
