2-11-15 aaa survey-driving risks

Many Wisconsinites report they regularly engage in unsafe driving behaviors despite acknowledging the threats they pose and revealing more than one in three have a loved one who has been seriously injured or killed in a crash.  That according to the AAA Foundation’s recently released Traffic Safety Culture Index. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says the survey revealed many unsafe driving behaviors are widespread in the Badger State including excessive speeding and red light running.  Jarmuscz says the greatest disconnect between acknowledgement of danger and actual behavior relates to drowsy and distracted driving.  “Respondents in our survey actually rated distracted driving as a greater danger on the road and something they are more concerned about than drinking and driving,’  Jarmuscz told WFDL news.  “Yet one in five of them admit to doing thing like texting while they’re driving. ”  Wisconsin also lags behind the rest of the country when it comes to seat belt use:
