2-11-15 rosendale-brandon school board could vote next week on year round school for k-5 students

The Rosendale-Brandon School administrator says year round school for younger students could start as early as this summer.  Gary Hansen says the school board will discuss results of the latest parent survey gauging support of year round school for grades K-5 at their meeting next week and could take action at the meeting.  Hansen says under year round school students would be attending the same number of days…but it would be spread out over the year.  Hansen tells WFDL news a preliminary cost estimate would be somewhere between $50,000 to $100,000.  Hansen says the idea of year round school has been discussed for a number of years.   He says studies show year round school can improve student’s academic performance by avoiding the summer slide where students forget what they had learned from the previous school year.
