2-14-14 dodge county woman reaches deferred prosecution agreement in theft case

todayFebruary 14, 2015

A Mayville woman has entered into a deferred prosecution agreement after entering a no contest plea to charges related to taking more than 15 thousand dollars from a Mayville store where she was an employee.  42 year old Kathy Dankert entered the Alford plea to charges of theft in a business setting and theft of moveable property  in Dodge County Circuit Court.  She was accused of stealing the money when she worked at the Ben Franklin True Value Radio Shack Store.  Judge Brian Pfitzinger approved the DPA and withheld finding guilt on the business theft charge and found Dankert guilty on the property theft charge.  Judge Pfitzinger ordered Dankert to pay over 15 thousand dollars in restitution and withheld a sentence of 12 months probation.  She was accused of ringing up items, then cancelling the transactions if the customer paid with cash. The customer would leave with the goods, the computer would show no transaction occurred, and Dankert would take the money.  Store records showed over 15 thousand dollars in cancelled transactions.
