A former Mayville man has been convicted of stalking a Beaver Dam woman and threatening to kill her. Fifty four year old, Leroy Stalker, of Watertown pleaded no contest plea to stalking this week in Dodge County Circuit Court. Judge Steve Bauer withheld a prison sentence and placed Stalker on three years probation with orders to have no contact with the woman or her children and to undergo counseling. According to a criminal complaint Stalker threatened to kill the woman in front of her children.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
