A Fond du Lac man charged in connection with the heroin overdose death of another Fond du Lac man has been bound over for trial. Twenty one year old Jeffrey Hiley pleaded not guilty to charges of first degree reckless homicide and manufacture-delivery of heroin both as a repeat offender. Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Hiley is accused of supplying the heroin that led to the death of Corey Lawson last May. Hiley remains in the Fond du Lac County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
