An open public presentation regarding runoff into Lake Winnebago will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, at LaClare Farms and Café at 7:00 PM. This is an important learning opportunity for shoreline, suburban and farmland property owners on or near the shore of Lake Winnebago. LaClare Farms and Café is located just north of Pipe near the intersection of US 151 and County HH. Speakers will include: Mr. Paul Tollard, Fond du Lac County Conservationist, will discuss Runoff Prevention Actions Now; Mr. Dan Hanks, Fond du Lac County Code Enforcement, will explain New DNR / County Shoreland Ordinances; Mr. Jordan Skiff, Director of Public Works, City of Fond du Lac, will present New State Sewer Water Mandates. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to watch the goats being milked (starts at 4:30 PM) and enjoy a light meal with $ 1.00 off any entrée. A cash bar will also be open during the presentations, for beer, wine and soda. The evening presentation is presented by Lake Winnebago Quality Improvement Association of Fond du Lac County and the Lake Winnebago Clean Waters Project. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
