In response to the nationwide outbreak of measles, the Fond du Lac County Health Department is scheduling special immunization clinics where MMR (Measles Mumps, Rubella) vaccine will be offered at no charge to children ages 12 months thru 18 years of age. The clinics are being offered:
- Monday, March 9; 3-6 pm; Fond du Lac County Health Dept., 3rd Floor; 160 S. Macy St , Fond du Lac
- Wednesday, March 18; 3-5 pm; Ripon High School; 850 Tiger Drive, Ripon
- Monday, March 23; 4-6 pm; St. Isidore Parish, Holy Cross Church; 308 S. County W., Mt. Calvary
Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says being current on measles vaccine is especially important for families who may be traveling over spring school break. Mueller says measles is the most deadly of all childhood rash/fever illnesses. Two doses of MMR vaccine are required; the first dose of vaccine is given between 12 -15 months and the second dose before entering school, at 4 – 6 years.
