A Fox Lake man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a Fond du Lac woman while she slept. A jury this week found 39 year old Marlin Snake guilty of second degree sexual assault of an unconscious victim and not guilty of criminal damage to property as a repeat offender. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 18th. According to a criminal complaint, a Fond du Lac woman told police she had been drinking with Snake at a friend’s house on Nov. 26 in the city of Fond du Lac. The woman said she later fell asleep in a bedroom and was awakened to find Snake having sex with her.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
