A Fond du Lac man arrested in connection with burglaries at two Fond du Lac businesses has made his initial court appearance in separate retail theft cases. Bryan Wanatabe is charged with misdemeanor retail theft and resisting an officer. He is accused of thefts at Walgreens, Wal-Mart, DJ Food Mart and the Marathon gas station. Bail was set at $500 cash. He has not yet been charged in connection with break-ins at Mike’s Music and Eaton’s Pizza.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
