3-24-15 fatal crash prison sentence-reaction

todayMarch 23, 2015

The mother of the victim of a fatal traffic crash says she hopes this case sends a message to other young people about taking responsibility when they get behind the wheel of a car.  Jennifer Clouse’s 17 year old son Giovanni was killed when the car he was a passenger in slammed into a tree at the South Hills Country Club almost three years ago.  The car driver, Gilberto Castenada-Bobadilla, was sentenced Monday to three years in prison.  In an interview with WFDL news Jennifer Clouse says she hopes other teenagers learn from this tragedy so it doesn’t happen again.  “I think its (sentence) is going to send a big message now that its all completed.”    Clouse says her son is greatly missed.  “Gio was well-rounded, well-liked, as well as Gilberto.  I mean he’s at fault for the accident but its the same young man.  They never meant for this to happen,”  Clouse told WFDL news.  District Attorney Eric Toney says the tragedy is that the crash was preventable.  “Driving isn’t just going from point A to point B and and its making sure you’re paying attention and that you’ve got the individuals in your vehicle seatbelted and that you’re being cautious while driving because bad things can happen even when you don’t intend it to happen.”
