A Fond du Lac man involved in a shooting incident in downtown Fond du Lac last fall is going to prison. Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced Marcus Britton to four years in prison and four years of extended supervision. Britton fired a gunshot into the air outside the Main Pub near 6th and South Main Streets last September. Nobody was injured. According to a criminal complaint Britton has an extensive criminal record in Florida including drug related offenses, robberies and car jackings.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
