Extremely dry conditions have prompted the Dodge County Fire Chiefs Association and Dodge County Emergency Management to issue a statement on the moderate fire danger in the area. Fire Chiefs Association President Matt Pieper says the dry conditions county-wide have raised concerns with open flames outdoors. The weeks of moderate winds and dry conditions have made conditions favorable for open flames to quickly become out of control. And Pieper says recently, the increase in calls for fire response to uncontrolled grass fires have reached undesirable levels. The Fire Chiefs Association encourages people with questions regarding the advisory to contact their local Fire Chief.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
