A Fond du Lac man convicted in a nearly year long spree of burglaries and thefts in the Fond du Lac area is going to prison on a probation revocation. Charles Wals was initially placed on probation when he was convicted of burglary. Theft and criminal damage to property charges were dismissed and read into the record. Wals was back in court Thursday and judge Robert Wirtz lowered the boom. The judge sentenced Wals to a total of seven and a half years in prison and nine years extended supervision. The judge cited, in particular, concern that in one residential burglary a gun was stolen. According to a criminal complaint Wals and an accomplice were involved in business and residential burglaries and car entries looking for cash and other items to support a drug habit.
