A Ripon man has been charged in connection with a fatal car versus motorcycle accident in Fond du lac County last summer. Travis Hartman made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance Tuesday on a charge of homicide by negligient operation of a motor vehicle. Hartman is free on a three thousand dollar signature bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18th. According to a criminal complaint Hartman was driving a a vehicle on Highway 44 in the town of Ripon when he looked down to change the radio dial and struck a motorcycle in front of him. The motorcycle operator died at the scene.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
