A former Wisconsin principal of the year is retiring from the Fond du lac School district. Chegwin Elementary School principal, Theresa Loehr, is retiring at the end of the school year. Loehr began her career as an assistant at Sabish Junior High School in 1996. She has spent the last 15 years as principal at Chegwin. Chegwin has won 11 consecutive Title One School of recognition awards. In 2013 Loehr was named Wisconsin principal of the year.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
