A Fond du Lac man has been convicted in a shooting last fall outside the Taco Bell restaurant. Twenty year old Dao Vang pleaded no contest to recklessly endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 26th. Charges of carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing an officer were dismissed and read into the record. According to a criminal complaint Vang fired a gun into the air during a drug deal. Nobody was injured.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
