Andy Land, Hospice Nurse Climbing for Hospice
A Fond du Lac man and his climbing team has been airlifted by helicopter to base camp on  Mt. Everest following a massive earthquake that struck Nepal.  Fifty two year old Andy Land left March 25th for the epic climb.  His wife Mary Sue Land tells WFDL news she talked with her husband Friday…and was alerted early Saturday morning by a neighbor about the earthquake.  Mary Sue says she learned Andy was okay after checking the International Mountain guide website.  She says she spoke with Andy Monday morning and he told her they planned to trek down to the base of the mountain over the next several days.  She says her husband told her he never plans to try clmbing Everest again.   Police say more than 3600 people are dead and 6500 injured in the magnitude 7.8 quake, and the death toll may still rise.  Land was making the climb to raise awareness and money for hospice education in Wisconsin.
