A Fond du Lac woman escaped with only minor injuries in a one vehicle accident in Dodge County that could have had a more devastating outcome. On Sunday at about 7:30 pm, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on Highway 151 near County Trunk G in the Town of Beaver Dam. The car, driven by 49 year old Tina Groeschel of Fond du Lac, was northbound when it failed to negotiate a curve, went into the ditch, and struck a utility pole causing the vehicle to start on fire. The Sheriff’s Department says two witnesses stopped and got Groeschel out of the vehicle before it was engulfed by fire. Groeschel received minor injuries and was released from the scene by Beaver Dam EMS. The accident remains under investigation.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
