A Waupun Correctional Institution inmate faces attempted homicide charges after he allegedly tried to kill another inmate and injured a correctional officer. 28 year old Eric Conner is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide and battery by prisoners. Conner is accused of making a shank and attacking the 27 year old inmate. Following the stabbing, correctional officers spotted the homemade knife and attempted to subdue Conner. That’s when Conner is accused of punching one of the officers several times. An initial Dodge County Circuit Court appearance is scheduled for June 2nd

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
