MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin lawmaker says the state should legalize marijuana to reduce crime and improve the state's economy.  Rep. The project manager for the Interstate 41 project says signs will start going up this summer.  Governor Walker  announced last week the Federal Highway Administration approved the Interstate designation. 4-14-15 bird flu in wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin has confirmed its first case of a dangerous bird flu strain that has struck several other Midwest states.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday that it has confirmed the highly pathogenic H5N2 strain in a commercial flock of 200,000 chickens in Jefferson County of southeastern Wisconsin.  The USDA says state officials have quarantined the premises and birds there will be killed to prevent the […]

4-14-15 boat fire-fdl

Fire destroyed a boat parked near a recycling center in Fond du Lac.  Firefighters were called to the scene in the 200 Block of Morris Ct shortly before 10am Monday and found heavy smoke and flames coming from a boat which was on a trailer away from the building. Nobody was injured following  a natural gas leak in Fond du Lac Monday.  Investigators say  Alliant Energy was working in the area at 405 West Scott Street when a gas service line was struck.  Upon arrival fire crews evacuated the area and closed Scott Street until it was determined to be safe.  Alliant Energy located the line and clamped off the leak.  Alliant Energy remained on scene to remedy the […]

4-14-15 fdl stabbing incident

Fond du lac police are investigating a stabbing incident.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says a 57 year old Fond du lac man showed up at the St. Agnes Hospital emergency room Friday night with an apparent knife-slash wound to his neck.  The man was transported to St. Agnes Hospital and later transferred to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee where he was treated and released over the weekend.  Police believe the […]
