MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin lawmaker is set to introduce seven bills increasing penalties for drunken driving in the only state where a first-time offense is not a crime. Republican Representative Jim Ott says his bills would increase punishments for drunken driving offenses. And one would require first-time offenders to appear in court.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin has seen the number of organ donors increase since relaunching the state's donor registry in 2010. Five years ago, Wisconsin had zero registered organ donors as the state transitioned into a new system. Now, about 2.6 million residents are registered as organ, eye and tissue donors. Gannett Wisconsin Media reports there are still about 2 million eligible residents who have not signed up.

4-28-15 national forest cuts

RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) — Cuts are being made at some recreation areas in the 1.5 million-acre Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northern and northwest Wisconsin.  Reductions in services are coming next week to 11 percent of sites in the forest. 4-27-15 highwway 26 reconstruction project starts monday

4-27-15 fdl man survives earthquake in nepal

A Fond du Lac man and his climbing team has been airlifted by helicopter to base camp on  Mt. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State attorneys are asking a judge to toss out a lawsuit challenging Wisconsin's right-to-work law. The Wisconsin AFL-CIO, Machinists Local Lodge 1061 in Milwaukee and United Steelworkers District 2 in Menasha filed a lawsuit last month in Dane County Circuit Court alleging that the law amounts to an unconstitutional seizure of union property since unions now must extend benefits to workers who don't pay dues.
