A Lomira woman charged in connection with a fatal traffic crash in Fond du lac County last summer has waived her preliminary hearing. Twenty six year old Heather Cleveland was bound over for trial on a charge of homicide by negligient operation of a motor vehicle. Investigators say last June 25th Cleveland was texting on her cellphone minutes before her SUV slammed into the back of a pick-up truck that was stopped on Highway 23 waiting to turn left onto Willow Road. The pickup was pushed into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by 63 year old Linda Trotter of Ripon. Trotter was pronounced dead at the scene.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
